It all started during the 15^th century where navigation became a necessity to commanding countries like (Europe) foreshadowing their way through to Africa. 

A lot of countries from the black continent suffer their dominant. Some were driven to the far world where they began as starters wondering through the other side of life for survival, this gave birth to mixed race.

Countries like South Africa suffered during the Apartheid era, a heavy blow to Africa. Nelson Mandela and Steve Biko of South Africa arbitrated for their race, Kwame Nkrumah of Ghana also did his bit. We celebrate all these men for their unrelenting effort shown to Africa.

Africa cried to be independent to manage their own affairs. Now there is liberation, but I fear’ Independence should give us the onus to bread and milk ourselves; I fear, when will this excruciating peril end? When will we feed on leftover? We learnt in this generation that the Black man is capable of managing his own affairs. Let all put up an unremitting effort to see it happen. I fear how our story will be told to the unborn generations.

Are we liberated? The sad news of Africans drowning, crossing the Mediterranean and crossing the Sahara for greener pastures. Women and children are dying of hunger, hawking in the hot sun to put food on the table, whiles abled men are now beggars. Independent, we always look up to the ‘’navigators’’ to survive. Is it a misconception to believe that we are independent?

Our generation will tell a different story: ‘’The joy of Independence Day’’.

I share in the view of President Akufo-Addo’s Ghana Beyond Aid and the late President Mills saying that "we must reflect on the legacies that our forefathers bequeathed us; consider what we have added to that legacy, and commit ourselves to leaving a solid legacy for the generation after us."

 I wish this generation will leave to the expectations of all Legends who put their neck on the line in pursuit of a better Africa. Like these two great men.

Our story will be told, we will surely live a positive legacy to the next generation -- a proud Africa, a proud Ghana.
