A mini-bus from Accra to Aflao on Sunday ran into a group of vegetable traders at Tojeh near Kasseh-Ada, killing three- and-half year old Abu Abukari, injuring, his pregnant mother and another sibling.
Janet Obubuafo, 32, mother of Abukari, Saviour Obubuafo, 8 and Daniel Amuzu, driver of the bus were admitted at the South-Tongu District Hospital at Sogakope.
Angry youth attracted to the scene vandalized the bus and erected make-shift speed rumps, obstructing the flow of traffic until the police with the help of elders of the community intervened.
All the passengers on the bus however, escaped unhurt.
Mr John Kwabena Arthur, Dangme-East District Police Commander, briefing the GNA said the Ford Bus with registration KW 477 V, burst a rear tyre at about 0630 hours on reaching Tojeh, causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle.
He said the bus veered off to the opposite side of its lane and crashed into the sheds occupied by the women trading in tomatoes.
A source at the District Hospital at Sogakope said the injured were responding to treatment.
