A member of the Tema Oil Refinery board and MP for Ashaiman, Alfred Abgesi has questioned the removal of Dr. Kwame Ampofo as Managing Director of the refinery.
Mr. Agbesi says the real problem at TOR is not its manager but rather financial constraints.
Mr. Ato Ampiah, an engineer, replaces Dr. Kwame Ampofo whose dismissal was announced by the presidency on Wednesday.
Although TOR workers have hailed the move, Mr. Abgesi tells Joy News the removal of the manager only shows that the government has lost sight of the real problems at TOR.
“It is not Kwame Ampofo; it is not the Board; it is not the management; but liquidity."
He said the sacked MD and his management inherited a colossal debt adding the former management must be held accountable for the debt.
“We know before this management and board came into being there was a debt, how do we pay it? Are we holding the former management to account?”
“The former management must be brought to book. We are silent on it. As for Kwame Ampofo he is a sacrificial lamb,” he said.
