Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers was close to landing the Premier League  last year this time, Fast forward 12 months and  FA Cup semi-final defeat by Aston Villa means Rodgers has become the first Anfield boss since the 1950s not to win a trophy in his first three seasons in charge.

So why have  things gone so poorly after such a spirited challenge for the title last season and more importantly, why Rodgers  should go at a cost of  10 million pounds?
