The chiefs and people of Trabuom in the Atwima-Kwanwoma District have
appealed to the Health Ministry to upgrade the health centre in the community into a hospital.
The facility, established in 1975, serves the health needs of the people of Hwidiem, Twedie, Trabuom, Nweniso Number Three, Gyekye, Adwumase, Nwineso Number Two, Boko, Nwineso Number One and Gyankobaa all in the Ashanti Region.
On the average, about 300 patients are seen by the Centre daily.
Nana Asoma Karikari II, Chief of town, said raising the facility into the status of a hospital would help enhance the quality and range of services.
He was speaking at a durbar held by the community to mobilise funds towards the implementation of some self-help development projects.
The projects include the construction of washrooms, extension of street lightening system and refurbishment of the community centre estimated at GH¢15,000.00.
Nana Karikari called on citizens of the town to identify themselves with projects designed to make life comfortable and to contribute generously towards the provision of such social amenities.
Mr Tony Nyame, the District Chief Executive of the area, commended the chiefs and people for their self-help spirit, saying it was important for Ghanaians to play their part to achieve the better Ghana agenda.
He counselled the people not to politicize government's development projects and programmes.
The fundraising ceremony netted GH¢4,250.00.
