The Research, Statistics and Information Management Directorate (RSIM) of the Ministry of Trade and Industry have taken delivery of items to strengthen its operation.
The items were presented to the unit by the Ghana Community Network Services (GCNet) as part of its contribution to strengthening the Directorate.
The RSIM Directorate of the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MOTI) is responsible for creating and maintaining a reliable data base in the trade and industrial sector for policy formulation and decision making.
The Directorate is also responsible for developing a system for providing feedback to stakeholders and clients of the sector.
The items, which included ten computers and two projectors, two projector screens, two scanners and two colour printers and other office accessories are valued at GHC 20,000.
MOTI is currently in the process of strengthening and modernising its research and data management unit for all other Directorates.
The RSIM Directorate conducts research into activities to remove bottlenecks and enhance service delivery standards.
MOTI has also arranged for a cross-section of its staff to be trained in GCNet’s data extraction and management software (COGNUS IMPROMPTU) to query and produce reliable international data.
