The Anona Ebusuapanyin and family of Moree and Cape Coast and the entire nation woke up on 24th November, 2014 to the sad news of the transition of our beloved father, uncle, mentor grandfather and celebrated engineer to eternity. Indeed, this news broke many hearts and devastated several. However, we can take consolation in the fact that, he is in the comforting bosom of the Lord.
Even though Ghana has been robbed of her illustrious son by the icy hands of death, she and the Anona Ebusua can take solace in the fact that, the late Dr. Louis Casely-Hayford led a life of service to God and country that in death, we have every justifiable reason to celebrate his life.
Dr. Louis Casely Hayford was born in Moree near Cape Coast in the Central Region. He attended Adisadel College and proceeded to Manchester University in the UK from 1956 to 1960 where he was trained as a professional Engineer.
Dr. Casely-Hayford upon return, dedicated his life to the building of this corporation we all cherish and call Ghana. In this respect, he held many positions and played diverse roles in many institutions and establishments in our country. He became the Chief Executive Officer of the Volta River Authority from 1980 to 1991 where he offered distinguished service to the power generating body. He was also a former Chancellor of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. He was also a former Chairman of the Tertiary Board of Education. Dr. Casely-Hayford further became Chairman of Cal Bank and the Advisory Board of Newmont Gold. He also served on the Boards of VALCO and GNPC.
Dr. Louis’s immense dedication and service to our dear country have been the source of inspiration to many and will continue to inspire many more generations.
On this sad occasion, and as we await the final funeral arrangements to be announced in due course, Ghanaians wish to extend our condolences to the Anona Ebusuapanyin, family, children and wife. It is also our prayer that, they find the strength and fortitude to go through this trying time. Indeed, Ghana has lost an irreplaceable national asset!!
Dr. Louis Casely-Hayford rest in peace!
