Two police officers have been interdicted after a viral video showed them whipping a suspect in custody.
A press release issued by the Public Affairs Directorate of the Ghana Police Service said the acting Inspector General of Police James Oppong-Boanuh had directed the interdiction of General Sergeant Patrick Amoako and General Lance Corporal Isaac Marfo.
In a video posted on social media, the two were seen taking turns to lash the suspect who is accused of stealing GHS1,600 from his boss.
But the officers at the Railway Police Station in the Eastern regional capital, Koforidua would have none of it, assaulting him in a bid to obtain a confession.
The Police administration said it is investigating the incident and urged the public to have patience.
