United Bank for Africa (Ghana), Limited on Tuesday 30th May 2017 handed over the keys to a 3 bedroom house to Mr. Anthony Mensah of the Madina Business office who emerged as the ultimate winner of the 9-month UBA Awoof promotion.
The loyalty promotion was part of sustenance strategies by UBA to commemorate the bank’s 10 years of service celebrations in Ghana.
Close to 100 customers across Ghana won various prizes in the two preceding draws. Items such as Air conditioners, television sets, online shopping vouchers and GHC60,000 cash prizes were given away by UBA to these revered customers.
At a colourful ceremony held in Accra at the actual premises of the detached house, in the plush vicinity of East Legon Hills, the ultimate winner, Mr. Anthony Mensah, a customer of the Madina Business office, accompanied by his wife, three children, brother and work colleagues was full of surprise and appreciation at the management of UBA for staying true to their words and delivering the house in good time.
“I have seen and heard of many loyalty promotions but I have never believed or participated in any of them. Yes, I heard all the adverts but I concentrated on my normal savings which I felt I should do for my children’s future; however little did I know I would emerge the ultimate winner”. Together with my family, we are so excited about the beauty of the house and vicinity. I would encourage all of us gathered here to develop the habit of saving. UBA is a true bank and I recommend the bank to everyone,” Mr. Mensah said.
The Managing Director of UBA, Mrs. Abiola Bawuah, who was represented at the ceremony by the Head of IT Operations, Mr. Kwame Aduansere expressed appreciation to the customers and thanked them for their continuous business with the bank. She assured the customers of the bank’s long-term plan to grow in Ghana and the duty of care and security of their funds.
“By giving away a 3 bedroom house, it tells that UBA remains committed to the growth of our customers. We are the first, true and only top tier bank that would have given out a 3-bedroom apartment in the vicinity of the most admired East Legon Hills,” it was said.
UBA went on to thank the management of Mobus Property Holdings Ltd. a privately-held Ghanaian property investment, development and management company focusing on commercial and residential property development for their keen partnership to ensure that the house was built in record time.
During the period of the campaign, UBA embarked on three CSR projects within their operational communities through the East Legon One business office, providing over 20 bags of rice to Beacon House, an NGO focusing on the physically challenged, poor but needy and HIV children with a total population of about 300.
Again, the Teshie Community Clinic which also doubles as a maternity and antenatal care, was recognised for their good deeds by the Teshie Business office replacing the broken down BP monitoring machine, the Foetus Doppler (monitor of babies heartbeat) and also presented bed sheets and pillow cases.
The bank went on to donate to the Good Shepherd orphanage located in Akplorkploe housing over 100 kids. The Aflao business office of UBA donated food items and toiletries to augment the daily needs of the children.
The CEO of Mobus Property Holdings, Mr. Kwadwo Ansah, in his remarks, thanked UBA for their cooperation during the construction period. He reiterated that the building met all conducive requirements that would ensure the winner enjoys their new home. “UBA is a family bank, no wonder the house was built to embrace a family atmosphere,” he added.
The presence of UBA in the banking industry in Ghana over the last ten years has galvanized banking onto a higher performance level; where competition and innovation in responding to the needs of the customer have become the driving force of the industry. UBA Ghana has been at the forefront of many product innovations within the Ghanaian banking landscape; including the revolutionary Cashless Account which permits customers to open accounts without an initial deposit which was the first of its kind in Ghana.
