Barring any last minute challenges, the Bank of Ghana will next week release for circulation, the upgraded 50 Ghana cedi bank note.
JOY-BUSINESS has gathered the notes will bear the signature of Vice President Kwesi Amissah- Arthur. This is because the notes were printed in June when Mr. Amissah-Arthur was the Governor of the bank and delivered in July.
Notes to be issued later will however bear the signature of the new governor.
The upgraded notes will be in circulation with the old note until it’s completely withdrawn.
The bank note comes with some enhanced-security features - prominent among them being the green cocoa pod spark. This will replace the silver hologram patch on the right-corner of the note.
Officials of the bank are optimistic the upgrade notes will help check counterfeiting of the currency.
