The first ever meeting of the Alumni Association of the US State department has been held in Accra.
The Association, opened to young career professionals in Ghana and across the world is geared towards fostering good relationship between the US and other countries through partnership and exchange programmes.
Speaking on behalf of the Cultural Affairs Officer, Mr. William Holton emphasized the importance of Alumni involvement in U.S Embassy programming.
He reiterated the Alumni members’ role in fostering mutual understanding between the United States and host countries through community engagement in activities and events as well as exchange of expertise.
He implored members to value their ‘ambassadorial’ status and trumpet the ideals gained from their exchange experience and positively effect change in their societies.
The Alumni Coordinator Mr. Anani Yao Kuwornu gave an overview of the formation of the Association and recounted the projects and progress made so far by the Association.
The Acting President of the Association, Nana Yaa Appiah called on her fellow Alumni to get actively involved in the Associations event.
A standing committee has been set up to plan the launch of the Association.
