The United States (US) Ambassador to Ghana, Mr Donald Teltelbaum, on Tuesday paid a courtesy call on the Central Regional Minister, Madam Ama Benyiwa-Doe and discussed with her issues of mutual cooperation and benefit.
Mr Teltelbaum also briefed the minister on how the region could attract American investors to the area to invest in its vast economic potentials such as tourism and agro-processing.
He noted that the US has a long standing cordial relation with the region and that it was through the USAID that the Kakum Forest conservation as well as the restoration of the various castles and forts was carried out to boost tourism in the area.
For her part, Madam Doe said the areas to be considered included the processing of fish, citrus and oil palm which abound in the region and also called for investment in salt mining and tourism.
She said the Central Region Development Commission (CEDECOM), had over the years been at the forefront of the region’s development programme and would therefore receive a boost from government to make it more vibrant.
