The Deputy Upper West Regional Minister, Abu Kabiebata Kansangabata has expressed worry over the drop out rates of school children in the Daffiama-Bussie district. He said the drop out rates is about thirty percent which he thinks is disturbing and called on Assembly men to to do everything possible to reverse the trend. Mr. Kansangabata made the statement at the first ordinary meeting of the second session of the Daffiama-Bussie-Issa Assembly at the district capital, Issa on Friday. He tasked the District Director of Education to come out with comprehensive plan of action which can aid in arresting the situation. "We must work hard to send children of school going age to school, but also to ensure they stay and successfully complete their basic education". Mr. Kansangabata also expressed similar sentiments on the performance of the Assembly in the area of internally generated revenue. Against this abysmal performance, he called on the Assembly members, chiefs, opinion leaders and community members to support the district assembly's staff in local revenue generation to enable the assembly to fulfill its development agenda of reducing poverty and improving the livelihood of the people. Mr. Kansangabata who also doubles as the acting District Chief Executive of the district also raised the issue of shoddy work by contractors. "It is the responsibility of all to check and monitor the jobs being executed by contractors and report on any shoddy work been done. I will not hesitate to black list any contractor who engages in shoddy work and also penalize the consultant or the Assembly staff who condone such behavior,"he warned. The Presiding Member of the Assembly, Dr. Sebastian Sundaari thanked the government for the creation of the district. However he expressed worry about failure of the government to appoint a substantive District Chief Executive for the area since its creation a year ago. He appealed to president Mahama to appoint a substantive District Chief Executive for the district.
