Former aide to Ex-president John Rawlings, Victor Smith, says he fears the worst could happen to the ruling NDC if elders of the party do not intervene immediately to address the deepening crisis within the party. He asked the elders to hold an emergency session with the President, John Evans Atta Mills and his challengers to convince them to step down from the race to become NDC flagbearer for the 2012 elections. The comments by Mr. Smith who is now Ghana’s Ambassador to the Czech Republic is about the first admission by a leading figure in the NDC that the party is faced with a serious crisis. He told Radio Gold, Tuesday morning, the contestants have very legitimate concerns that need to be addressed. He blamed the party’s predicament squarely at the doorstep of the leadership and has urged them to take full control of party affairs to give the President space to govern the country.Source: Joy News
