‘Odo’ hitmaker, Kidi has revealed that he stayed away from news on the VGMA@20 theme song because he knew Ghanaian would be judgemental.
For Kidi, it was an honour to have been selected as a young artiste to feature on a project of that magnitude hence his focus was on delivering.
“When they released the song I decided not to look for any news that comes (with it) because I knew people will be judgemental and the scrutiny and all of that so I decided not to [follow the news],” he said.
Kidi added, “Me, I am honoured, to be honest…I didn’t even know who was going to be on it at what time, I just came to the studio and recorded my part.”
He told JoyNews MzGee on ‘The Gist’ that he didn’t know those selected to feature on the project.
He added that his boss, Richie Mensah told him singer Adina had recorded her version whilst briefing him on the project.
“I asked Richie what are we doing and he said we want to make a song for 20years of the Ghana Music Awards and I was like ok, it is actually an honour for me a young boy to be part of such an iconic song and I did my part,” he said.
Kidi concluded that “As a growing artiste, apart from making commercial music for people to dance to when they go to parties, we also look forward to being part of iconic projects like this.”
‘The Gist’ with MzGee airs on the JoyNews Channel on Multi-TV, DSTV 421 at 8.30 pm on Saturday and Sunday.
