A birthday party turned bloody in James Town because the celebrant and well wishers were gays and lesbians.
Rampaging youth stormed the event at night over the weekend and launched a mass assault on all on sight.
The attack is believed to have been masterminded by a gang in the area.
The group has since, allegedly, returned to attack homes in the community believed to house gays and lesbians.
Victims of the attack have confessed to Joy News they are truly homosexuals and are now living in fear of further attacks when night falls.
"We saw they were throwing bottles from where they were standing and the bottles were crashing down. So people started running outside. And the girl was crying that she was not going to wear a ring," one of the victims told Joy News' Paa Kwesi Asare.
"The money that they gave her, the people came inside and took the money away," he added.
“..I was about to reach home when one of the boys met me and started beating me up, shouting you are among.”
He said even when they were sleeping at night people wielding bottles and clubs started beating.
One of them called Hilary confessed being a gay and practiced that kind of sexuality growing up.
With this gang attack, the nation may soon be forced to revisit the contentious subject of homosexuals and their place in the society even after President Mills unequivocally stated that Ghanaians frown on the practice and won’t be pressured to legalize it.
