The Volta Region has been selected to host the 41st National Farmers Day celebration, scheduled for Friday, December 5, 2025, under the theme “Feed Ghana, Eat Ghana, Secure the Future.”
Announcing this at a press soiree in Ho, the Volta Regional Minister, James Gunu, described the selection as both an honour and an opportunity for the region to showcase its agricultural potential and cultural heritage.
Mr. Gunu emphasized that the annual celebration provides a vital platform to acknowledge the contributions of farmers and fishers to Ghana’s food security, economic development, and sustainability.
He called on traditional leaders, farmer groups, private sector players, and residents to actively participate in the event and the accompanying Volta Trade Fair, which will spotlight local products, innovations, and agribusiness prospects.
“This is a proud moment for the Volta Region,” he stated.
“We are blessed with fertile lands and hardworking farmers, and hosting this year’s celebration allows us to display our agricultural strength to the rest of the country.”
According to the minister, district and municipal assemblies in the region will hold their Farmers Day activities a week before the national celebration to recognize local farmers and agripreneurs at the community level.
This year’s celebration is expected to draw dignitaries, policymakers, agricultural experts, and exhibitors from across Ghana.
Activities will include exhibitions, award presentations, cultural performances, and policy discussions aimed at advancing Ghana’s agricultural transformation agenda.
Mr. Gunu expressed appreciation to President John Dramani Mahama for selecting the Volta Region as host and assured that the chiefs, elders, and people of the region are fully prepared to make the 41st National Farmers Day celebration a memorable and successful event.
