The Paramount Chief of Dormaa Traditional Area has endorsed the running mate of the Convention People’s Party describing her as the best person to support the party’s flagbearer Dr Abu Sakara with his vision to transform Ghana.
Osagyefo Agyemang Badu II believes the CPP presidential ticket is worth the mandate of Ghanaians in the December polls.
He made these remarks when the flagbearer and his running mate Nana Akosua Frimponmaa Sarpong Kumankumah called on him at his palace in Dormaa.
Osagyeo Agyemang Badu also noted that it would be wrong for anyone to criticize chiefs for doing politics.
According to him, the 1992 constitution of Ghana does not bar chiefs from doing politics but rather stops them from taken part in active partisan politics.
He expressed his gratitude to the CPP flagbearer for choosing a running mate who hails from the region and more especially a ‘credible traditional ruler’ from his kingdom.
Osagyeo Agyemang Badu congratulated Nana Akosua Frimponmaa for her nomination and subsequent selection as the running mate to the flagbearer of the Convention People’s Party.
Osagyefo politely instructed all his sub-chiefs to vote for the CPP since one of their own has been chosen to what he describes as respectable position.
Nana Akosua Frimponmaa Sarpong Kumankumah, who was the Gyantoahemaa for the Dormaa Traditional area until her selection as CPP flagbearer’s running mate, thanked the chief and his elders and the people of Dormaa for their support since her selection.
She indicated that had it not been the constitution which does not permit traditional rulers to take part in active partisan politics she would not have abdicated the stool she was occupying.
Nana Akosua Frimponmaa was grateful the people of Dormaa for accepted her decision in good faith. She said she is of the firm believe that the CPP administration led by Dr Sakara would not neglect traditional rulers as it has been the case in the past thirty years.
Dr Abu Sakara on his part urged the Chief and his elders to continue to pray for abundance peace ahead of the December elections. He stated that the CPP would not do anything that will destabilize the current peace and tranquility the Ghana is enjoying.
Dr Sakara promised the Chief and his elders that the CPP will complete the unfinished agenda of ‘our forefather of achieving economic emancipation for our country’ if voted into office.
The CPP flagbearer was accompanied by the wife Mrs Lilly Sakara, 2nd National vice Chair, Rodaline Imoru Ayana, the National Women’s Organizer Hajia Hamdatu Haruna, National Youth Organize, Kadri Abdul Rauf, Presidential Spokesperson, Kwame Jantuah and some members of the campaign team.
