The Volta River Authority, VRA is expecting a major revenue boost when it takes delivery of new cruise boats for activities on the Volta Lake.
The recreational vessels estimated to cost about 1.2 million Ghana cedis include family pontoon boats, motor boats and a mini Dodi boat. The arrival of the vessels is expected to enhance tourist interest and activities on the Volta Lake.
VRA’s Head of Public Relations, Gertrude Koomson explains to Joy Business this should also translate into significant revenue for the VRA and the economy as a whole.
“We are looking forward to these smaller boats. We expect that they will generate employment and boost domestic tourism. People have visited the Dodi Island and called for its development so we’ll tie it to that. It will be faster to get to the island than when we were using the Dodi Princess” she said.
