Nation Builders Corps (NABCO) trainees in the Bono region have lauded President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and his government for offering them the opportunity to serve in the various modules under the Nabco initiative.

They said, government engaging them has reduced their burdens, enhanced their capacity and given them the needed experience which would be a boost in their future search for jobs.

They expressed these excitements during a "float" across the principal streets of Sunyani to showcase the initiatives as part of activities to mark the week-long celebrations of NABCO in the region.

Other activities include donation to orphanages, health screening and football competition in Sunyani with a grand durbar on October 14, 2019, to climax the occasion.

According to some beneficiaries who spoke to Joy News, "it was very disheartening as graduates to continue asking our parents for money to survive because we were jobless. But NABCO engaging us have changed our situations positively and for that, we are grateful to the government".

"I have no idea what would have become of my life after years of unsuccessful attempts to be employed", Ernest Tieku, an HND graduate wondered, adding, "more of such initiatives will eradicate some of the negative deeds by the youths in the country".

According to the Regional Coordinator of the programme, Mr Kofi Ofosu Boateng explained that NABCO has generated a tremendous relief to most unemployed graduate and those who wanted an opportunity to set up their own businesses.

He said, "the wonderful initiative is a stepping stone to engage the unemployed graduates to give them employable skills and also a life of dignity".

He further noted, the policy has the tendency of employing the majority of unemployed graduates, if not all of them, and that the initiative is by far the most comprehensive policy aimed at creating jobs for university graduates in the country.

The Nation Builders’ Corps initiative was launched by President Akufo-Addo in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region on May 1, 2018, to address perennial unemployment, which had become a canker in the country.

The modules are Feed Ghana, Educate Ghana, Revenue Ghana, Heal Ghana, Enterprise Ghana, Digitize Ghana and Governance Ghana.
