The Upper West Regional Executive Committee of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) on behalf of the entire membership of the party in the region has expressed their shock and grieves of the sudden demise of president John Evans Atta Mills.
In a statement released in Wa to the media, they expressed their profound condolences to the former first lady, Dr. Ernestina Naadu mills and the entire family of the late president.
The statement which was signed on behalf of the for the regional chairman of the party stated that the demise of president John Evans Atta Mills is an irreplaceable loss to the nation adding that he was a man of immeasurable integrity who served the country in various capacities with great humility truth and diligence.
The statement further stated president mills advocated for peace and epitomized peace at all spheres of the country’s politics.
The Upper West NDC is convinced in their conviction that the late president is resting in the bosom of the Lord.
The party said even though they mourn the demise of President Mills in sorrow, they still find solace in his unbeatable, impeccable and unprecedented record of achievements as a president in less than four years.
‘‘We pledge that your bright legacies of humility and democratic tolerance will forever be uplifted and upheld at all times in our great NDC as a mark of tribute to you.
The demise of President Mills is a great loss to the region because he openly showed his believe in the human resource capital of the region which was manifested in his appointments. We received their fair share of national development during the three and half years of his reign as a president of Ghana. As a region, we will forever remain grateful and indebted to you even as you rest in peace with the lord,’’ the statement stated.
The statement concludes by commending the National Executives Committee (NEC) of the party for the nomination of president John Dramani Mahama as the party’s flagbearer for the December polls subject to approval by the national delegate’s congress of the party.
‘‘By the nomination, NEC has demonstrated its belief in the vision and good judgment of the late president mills. It is our hope and prayer that the National Delegate’s Congress will follow suit. This is the best tribute we can ever pay to late president John Evans Atta Mills’’
