The Western Regional Police Command has mounted a search for a Takoradi-based lawyer, who has been implicated in a case of forgery and impersonation.
Ekow Amua Sakyi, son of late Justice Amuah Sekyi, chairman of the National Reconciliation Commission is implicated in a case of forgery and impersonation.
Ekow is alleged to have orchestrated a scheme to defraud an oil engineering company by posing as the legally mandated manager of the company’s accounts.
The Takoradi police are holding a woman whose signature was captured on a forged legal document used to secure the right to manage the oil engineering company’s finance.
The police tell Joy News the woman, one Rosemary Ohene Asante, gave up the names of Lawyer Amuah Sakyi and one other person as her accomplices.
The District Commander for Takoradi DSP Dela Dzansi told Joy News police in the region are aware of the case and are “on top of the case.”
The police boss denied his outfit has established that Rosemary was the architect of the alleged fraudulent deal.
“We know she is part of it but as to whether she is the architect we cannot draw conclusions now,” he said.
DSP Dzansi indicated that the police would be able to draw a firm conclusion after Mr Amua Sakyi has been arrested and questioned.
The police have invited Mr Amua Sakyi for questioning, DSP Dela tells Joy News, but the suspect has “promised to honour the invitation at a given time.”
Lawyer Amuah Sakyi is currently standing trial in another case in which he is also accused of defrauding two business men.
When Joy News reached him for comment, he denied the latest accusations against him and said he is surprised that the police will be looking for him.
