Mrs Ethel Anamoo, Chief Business Officer at AT, formerly AirtelTigo, a communications firm, has called for greater female involvement in traditionally male-dominated roles such as sales and marketing.
According to her, the sector, which was previously dominated by men, had evolved allowing for greater inclusivity.
“Sales and marketing have long been seen as fields best suited to men, particularly because these professions were often linked to the role of the primary breadwinner,” she said during a panel discussion at the National Sales Leaders Conference, in Accra.
“However, the landscape has changed. Women are not just participating, they are leading, innovating, and reshaping the industry with their unique perspectives and skills,” she indicated.
Mrs Anamoo said the evolution of sales and marketing over the last few decades represented a larger societal transition, emphasizing that what was formerly considered a male stronghold had now become a sector where women were emerging as significant drivers of success.

As a result, she said it was essential that women held leadership positions in those domains, and that "women in leadership roles should also look out for and encourage younger women."
Mrs Anamoo stated that AT had developed a workspace that actively contributed to activities, such as job rotation and mentorship events that allowed women to take on new and demanding tasks.
This, she explained, was part of an overall drive to ensure that women were acknowledged and valued for such critical roles.
“Our story is one of breaking barriers, shattering stereotypes, and laying a strong foundation for future generations.
“This narrative deserves recognition and celebration in the annals of business history,” she said.
