Eight Executive Directors of the World Bank are in the country to familiarize themselves with projects the bank is funding. The visit will also allow them to assess the impact of the bank’s interventions in the country.
The directors will for the next five days meet government officials as well as civil society groups on key economic and development issues. The visiting Directors represent the interest of Ghana and about 85 countries on the board of the bank. The board recently approved a 40 million dollar facility for Ghana.
Member countries including Ghana are governed through the 24 Executive Directors who represent all the 187 members. Members make up the highest decision power within the organization on all matters.
