Kwaebibirem Rural Bank observed World Savings Day which falls on October 31 with its innovative savings product called 'Susu Money Box', which has helped the Bank to increase its deposit with a growth of 5.8%.
Speaking to the media, the General Manager of the bank, Mr. Michael Agyeibi Agyekum, explained that as part of the World Savings Day, the bank organized a sensitization program by visiting churches, mosques, local FM stations, and organized groups to highlight the corporate images of the bank.
The exercise was also used to distribute some of its innovative Susu Money Box to customers in the catchment areas of its seven (7) agencies in Kade, Boadua, Oda, Kwae, Pramkese, and its headquarters in Asuom.
The General Manager added that the Susu Money Box, which the Bank of Ghana has given approval to Kwaebibirem Rural Bank, saw the bank distributing over 1,500 boxes to micro-savings customers in the operational areas of the bank last year.
The Board Chairman of the Bank, Carlos Kingsley Ahenkorah, who is the MP for Tema West, opined that the annual event must encourage the importance of bank savings and restore people’s confidence in banks rather than keeping money under their mattresses and pillows.
The Board Chairman advised customers to take advantage of the government's free SHS and save towards their ward's University education with the help of the Susu Money Box.
He recommended the management of the Bank for mobilizing over one million Ghana Cedis after the product was launched last year November.
