Ghanaian actress, writer, and producer Yvonne Ossei has been named the winner of the British Council ‘Study UK Alumni Award’ 2025 in the Culture and Creativity category.
Expressing her excitement, Madam Ossei shared that it was a privilege to represent Ghana and bring the award home on behalf of her alma mater, Queen Mary University of London.
She acknowledged the strong competition, emphasizing that the finalists were all outstanding candidates.
"I do not take the win for granted as there was a group of very worthy candidates that made it to the finalist stage," she said.

The British Council ‘Study UK Alumni Award’ recognizes international leaders who have utilized their UK education to make significant contributions to their communities, industries, and countries.
Madam Ossei extended her gratitude to the British Council, Queen Mary University of London, and all those who have supported her creative and social projects.
A trailblazer in the film industry, Yvonne Ossei’s work has brought global attention to issues such as female genital mutilation (FGM) in both the UK and Ghana.
She is a two-time winner of the Ghana Prominent Awards, the first African woman to win the British Urban Film Festival Award, and now, the first person from Queen Mary University of London to win the British Council ‘Study UK Alumni Award’.
