Former Accra Hearts of Oak chairman Harry Zakkour insists the club will beat the drop and has urged their supporters to stay calm.
Hearts who only ten years ago were African champions under Zakkour and with Kotoko have the most local league titles have been in free fall recently, dropping into the bottom three with nine games remaining.
Zakkour admits these are tough times for the club but says now is the time to summon their famous Never Say Die spirit.
"I have held meetings with the present management and I think it is important that we all work to ensure that we get the club back to where it belongs again. We need all hands on deck and what I can assure is that Hearts of Oak will be a much better team when the league resumes. We will do everything possible to ensure the team does not go to relegation," Zakkour told Peace FM.
Zakkour presided over Hearts of Oak's most successful period and many of their fans now are deeply unhappy with the way things have turned out now. They are planning a demonstration later this week to demand new elections for their board of directors.
But Zakkour is adamant demonstration should not be an option now.
"The more you demonstrate, the more you weaken the club. There is no need for demonstration at all."
