Thousands of Ghanaian Football fans are set to embark on street marches in Accra Wednesday to protest the Canadian High Commission’s refusal to grant them visas to travel to Canada to watch the on-going FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup matches there.

The leaders of the aggrieved demonstrators have confirmed they have permission from the Police to embark on the demonstration on August 13.

According to the organizers, the demonstrators would gather at the famous ‘Obra’ spot, at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle, early Wednesday morning.

After the protest, they would converge at the former Hearts of Oak Park near the Arts Centre in Accra.

Two weeks ago, the Sports Minister, Mahama Ayariga confirmed the High Commission suspected each of the applicants to be a potential asylum seeker, hence the refusal of the visas.

However, the Minister promised his outfit would collaborate with the Foreign Affairs Ministry to have the issue resolved with every applicant securing the Canadian visa.

The intended travel is to enable them travel to that country to support the Black Princesses.

Meanwhile, the Black Princesses chase qualification going into the last group game against Finland.

The team kicked-off the tournament with a 1-0 victory over the host nation, which handed them a big opportunity of reaching the last 8^th of Group A.

A 3-0 defeat to Korea DPR has put the Black Princesses under severe pressure as the team’s hopes of qualifying now rests on their results from the game against Finland in Moncton later on
