Twelve students from the Kumasi Wesley Girls Senior High School have been withdrawn from the boarding house by the authorities for allegedly engaging in lesbianism. The students are to return to the school as day students.Their withdrawal followed investigations conducted by the authorities for months which confirmed the practice. The identities of the students have not been disclosed.Authorities say they have put in place stringent measures to ensure the practice is not repeated.Metropolitan Education Director Kofi Safo Kantanka read contents of the dismissal letter to Joy News:"I regret to write to you that your ward named above has been withdrawn from boarding house."On 28th November [2012] the school authorities were privy to letters written by members of the group to entice a fresh student. When the students were interrogated by the disciplinary committee of the school they admitted to have been involved in this act with some students we confidently believe are on our suspect list"."Such misbehaviour is against the school rules and regulations which seeks to regulate her conduct cannot be tolerated within the school hence the decision by the disciplinary committee".The director said the authorities also received several complaints from other students about their ungodly practice of the affected girls. He said the authorities counseled the affected students to refrain from the act. The headmistress of the school has declined to comment.
