The National Homeownership Fund (NHF) is making significant strides in providing affordable housing to Ghanaians, with 129 new housing units now 55% complete since construction began in April 2024.
This progress, a result of collaboration between the NHF, the Tema Development Corporation (TDC), and the Ministry of Works and Housing, was lauded by the Sector Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, during his visit to the construction site on Friday, August 23, 2024.
"When I visited in early April, you were just starting. Now, to see some of these units nearing the roofing stage is very impressive. The speed at which you've worked is commendable, and it's clear that you haven't sacrificed quality.

"Instead, you've implemented more efficient methods to deliver these units," Minister Oppong Nkrumah stated, expressing his satisfaction with the ongoing Phase 3 of the NHF project.
The NHF, central to the government's strategy to address the housing deficit, is designed to offer affordable housing options to Ghanaians, targeting both public and private sector workers.
The Minister stated that the success of the project has been driven by the strong partnership between the NHF, TDC, and the Ministry of Works and Housing.
"This partnership has been instrumental in demonstrating what can be achieved when different stakeholders come together with a common purpose. The speed and quality of this project are a testament to what can be done when we work together efficiently," he noted.

Minister Oppong Nkrumah also highlighted the broader significance of this project for Ghana's housing agenda, particularly in the context of the country's significant housing deficit.
The NHF's role in providing affordable homeownership opportunities is seen as a key factor in improving living conditions and promoting economic stability.
Concluding his visit, the Minister challenged the NHF to replicate the successes of the Phase 3 project in other housing initiatives, particularly the district housing projects.
"As we move forward, I charge you to take the lessons learned here and apply them to our district housing projects.

"The speed and quality you've demonstrated must now be the standard for all our housing projects across the country.
"Our goal is to ensure that every Ghanaian has access to a decent and affordable home, and we are well on our way to achieving that," he urged.
