Winners of the 2012 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs) have finally been presented with their prizes two months after the awards ceremony.
The 13th edition of the awards was held on April 13 at a star-studded event at the Dome of the Accra International Conference Centre.
That event saw Ghana’s fastest rapper Sarkodie bagging home the Artiste of the Year prize for the second time after winning it at the 2010 edition of the awards.
Apart from that award, Sarkodie also won Best Rapper of the Year and Most Popular Song of the Year, all for his smash hit U Go Kill Me, other artistes such as the King of the Street Kwaw Kese, 4x4, Okyeame Kwame and Gifty Osei picked up awards each on the night.
Unlike the awards night which was full of glitz and glamour, the prize presentation ceremony was poorly attended as most of the artistes failed to show up.
Notable winners at Wednesday’s event included Stay Jay who won Best New Artiste(s) of the Year, Blakk Rasta who won Reggae Song of the Year, Appietus Producer of the Year, representatives of Sarkodie, and Gifty Osei who was crowned Gospel Artiste(s) of the Year and Gospel Album of the Year.
