The 2013 edition of the annual Easter Soup Kitchen, organised by Joy 99.7 FM is currently underway at the Efua Sutherland Park, popularly known as the Children's Park in Accra.
The event, which is part of the station’s corporate social responsibility to the underprivileged in society, will have over thousands of porters and other vulnerable groups in the society being feted, clothed and given medical care.
Several bales of clothe as well as food items, toiletries and medicine have been donated by listeners of Joy FM and philanthropists to make the event a success.
Chairman of the Soup Kitchen Planning Committee and Head of Marketing at Joy FM, Max Fuga, says so far everything is going according to plan.
Thousands of people who have already thronged the event ground are currently receiving medical attention from a combined team of the Ghana Medical Association and the Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana.
Some patrons will be registered under the National Health Insurance Scheme.
Two teams set up to invite the street children embarked on their trips Sunday morning.
"One team will take care of the Western part of Accra. One will take care of the Eastern part of Accra. We going to visits all the markets to invite street children to join us tomorrow morning,” Max Fuga said.
