25 persons died on the spot whilst 2 others later died at the Techiman Holy Family Hospital in a road accident at Bonomanso near Techiman involving a tipper truck and a 207 Benz bus in the late hours of Monday.
Five children are reported to be among the dead.
The tipper truck with registration number GT 1172 J which was said to be travelling from Kintampo in the Brong Ahafo region was said to have burst a tyre colliding with the 207 Benz bus with registration number AS 1708 P also travelling from Kumasi to Zebilla in the Upper East Region.
Asempa FM's correspondent in Techiman, Antwi Boasiako reported that the accident occurred at about 10 pm on Monday with the drivers of both vehicles dying instantly.
Medical Director of the Holy Family Hospital Doctor Ernest Ameyaw told Asempa News seven out of the nine who sustained various degrees of injury are in stable conditions whilst the remaining 2 are still in very critical condition.
Dr. Ernest Ameyaw said an identification desk created has yielded results as 10 corpses have been identified by families.
The Techiman Police Commander Chief Superintendent Antwi Gyau, who spoke on Asempa Today, says his outfit is still investigating the incident. He indicated that some family relations of the dead have contacted the Municipal police command for identification and collection of their dear ones.
He expressed surprise that the area is beginning to be an accident prone area even though that stretch of road is in good condition.
