41 PWDs get monetary support from government

The Kpando Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Geoffrey Badasu on Monday, 13th February, supported 41 Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) with the sum of GH₵66,000 to empower them financially.

In an address to the beneficiaries, Mr Badasu said, President Akufo-Addo believes that the economic challenges the country is facing should not make his government forget about PWDs.

''Despite the economic challenges facing Ghana, the Akufo-Addo government believes that PWDs should not be forgotten. For this reason, we are gathered here today to empower 41 PWDs with more than GH₵60,000 financial support,'' the Kpando MCE said.

He went on to state that if you are a PWD, and you are given the right assistance, you can do something to support yourself.

He noted that this will be the very last time monetary help will be handed over to beneficiaries.

''I however want to state that, this will be the last time we are giving money for this reason. When you give people money, they will go and buy other things with the money and return to default after a week instead of using it to do business.

"So we have decided that the next disbursement, we will use the money to buy things like deep freezers, fufu machines and other materials that you can use for business even if you can't move yourself around,' he said.

The Chairperson for PWDs in the Kpando Municipality, Madame Vivian Nartey advised the beneficiaries not to get intimidated by the able-bodied.

She also told them to use the money diligently and prove to the able-bodied people they can do better.

The MCE told them not to hesitate to come to his office should they need any form of help on the kind of business to venture into.
