The Chief Executive of Community Water and Sanitation Agency (CWSA), Ing. Dr Worlanyo Kwadjo Siabi says CWSA has completed 568 institutional toilets in 224 basic schools across the country.
Addressing the media on Sunday, Dr Ing. Kwadjo Siabi noted that the institutional toilet facilities were undertaken in 10 regions.
They are; Ahafo, Bono, Bono East, Central, Western, Western North, Upper West, Upper East, North East and Savanna Regions.
This, according to him was made possible under a programme CWSA implemented in the name of Sustainable Rural Water and Sanitation Project (SRWSP), adding that, "it was financed through a US$ .415 million IDA/World Bank loan.”
Dr Kwadjo Siabi stated that at the end of the programme, CWSA was able to implement other sanitation interventions such as providing 21, 776 household toilets (digni-loo type).
He added that CWSA “also achieved 947 open defecation-free communities.”
