Airtel Ghana has taken it three-year relationship with Arsenal Football Club to another level by treating selected valued customers and some media partners to the Emirates Stadium experience. The company’s relationship with Arsenal FC initially manifested in its Airtel Rising Stars programme, which saw some of the technical team members of Arsenal FC coming down to Ghana and to other Airtel markets in Africa to interact with the young participants of the Rising Stars programme. This time round, Airtel took two valued customers and two media personnel to go see Arsenal play Manchester City live at the 62,000-seater Emirates Stadium. The treat forms part of Airtel’s plan to send selected customers, staff and strategic partners to go see every match the Gunners will play at the Emirates this season of the English Premiership. The four, accompanied by Airtel Ghana’s Head of Corporate Affairs, Donald Gwira, were the first to have enjoyed the Emirate Stadium treat. During the two nights that the five were in London, they had a tour of the Emirates on day one, having the chance to visit and see parts of the stadium that the public do not usually get the see. The tour of the Emirates took them to the Arsenals Museum where various team relics like old kits of some of their big star, trophies, awards, plus videos of the some of the most historic moments since the team was established till date, were on display. They also saw the away team and home team dressing rooms, media rooms, press conference room, infirmary, restaurants, football field, and other interesting facilities in the gargantuan Emirates Stadium. The Ghanaian guests did not miss out on taking pictures at various parts of the stadium, particularly with some of the actually jerseys of their favorite Arsenal players such as Theo Walcott, Cazola, Podoski, Atteta and others hanging in the dressing room at the time of the visit. The match itself was not particularly thrilling because the weather was freezing cold and the Gunners lost by a 0-2 margin.
