Lufthansa; German Airlines’ First Class product and service package has been awarded a five-star rating by Skytrax, a United Kingdom-based aviation research organization.
This is the first time the four star airline has received that rating.
The General Manager of Lufthansa, Ghana, Kevin Markette said the airline was making inroads by improving the product and efficiency and would make further additions in the other classes and compartments on their aircrafts.
The Skytrax rating system focused on the comfort of the recently launched first class cabin, which is fitted with ergonomically contoured seat, able to convert into a fully flat, two-meter long bed.
Other products include Lufthansa’s in-flight entertainment system which offers customers movies in up to eight different languages, various TV and radio channels, as well as a selection of CDs and audio books.
Marks were also awarded for the airline’s first class cabin staff, which had improved remarkably over the past six months, the first class terminal in Frankfurt, including services from personal assistants to first class passengers from arrival at the airport to check in for their flight.
The dedicated terminal was acclaimed for its comfortable armchairs and sofas as well as other amenities including quiet rooms with daybeds. A separate cigar lounge, spacious bathrooms offering high-quality toiletries as well as an extensive choice of hot or cold meals, cocktails and fine wines contributed to Skytrax top-tier ranking”
Mr Markette said the airline “is very proud” of the first class product and although it was not yet available on the Accra route, customers could make use of the first class terminals in most of the destinations.
Lufthansa had also introduced a new business class product with a full flat bed, unlike most airlines. This product is available on its newest aircraft; the Boeing 787-800i and would be rolled out on its entire fleet.
The quality analysis was conducted by the Skytrax Research Institute which specializes in rating airline products and service standards.
It scrutinizes each airline on widely diverse aspects related to customer satisfaction and service quality. Besides an airline’s onboard product, the study looks at all areas of an airline’s product and service standards on the ground.
Skytrax introduced its independent, yearly star-ranking programme in 1999.
