A 31-year-old man who allegedly tried to snatch a taxi from a driver at knife point at Labadi in Accra has been arrested by the night Police patrol team.
The suspect, Patrick Kwame Adom, hired the taxi from VIP station at Kwame Nkrumah Circle to La Girls School together with an accomplice named Bismark who is on the run.
Adom and Bismark attacked Nana Kofi Ahyin, the taxi driver, at about 2130 hours on Monday, March 18.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Wilson Kudze told the Ghana News Agency in Accra on Wednesday that about 22 hours on that fateful day the Police Patrol Team with the help of volunteers arrested Adom while trying to snatch the taxi.
The suspect and his accomplice struggled with the taxi driver leading to minor injury on Nana Arhin.
The driver was taken to La General Hospital and discharged on Tuesday evening, March 19.
DSP Kudze said Adom was arrested two years ago on the same allegation and remanded in Police custody for two years but released in November last year because there was no evidence for the Police to back the claim.
He said now there is enough evidence to process Adom to court as soon as possible.
He appealed to the public to assist the Police by providing information about his accomplice.
