The Ghana Private Road Transport Union,(GPRTU) has appealed to drivers in the country to drive with caution during the Easter festivities to prevent road accidents.
The Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the GPRTU, Robert Sarbah, who made the appeal in an interview with the Ghana News Agency on Thursday, said it was necessary to remind the drivers about the need to promote road safety during such festivities.
He advised drivers to avoid over-speeding, drunk driving, fatigue driving, overloading of vehicles and the use of mobile phones while driving.
“Let’s drive safely by abiding by traffic regulations and arrive home alive,” the chairman said.
Mr. Sarbah urged the general public to report to the nearest police station or GPRTU office, any misconduct of union members.
The chairman also urged holiday makers to entertain themselves in moderation in order not to turn their merrymaking into disaster.
He also advised Christians to go to church and let the death of Christ reflect in their lives.
