Residents of Abesim in the Sunyani municipality have appealed to the Member of Parliament for Sunyani East, Mr Kwasi Ameyaw-Cheremeh to facilitate the completion of an abandoned toilet facility. The facility was put up during the New Patriotic Party (NPP) era as part of projects for the Ghana @50 celebrations. The residents told the Ghana News Agency over the weekend that construction works on the 12-seater water closet facility started in 2006 but was abondoned before it could be completed. They said the facility which is located near the local Methodist Primary school in the area now serve as a den for criminals.Persistent appeals to the municipal assembly to complete it, according to residents, have fallen on deaf ears even though there was no public toilet in the area.Residents say they have had to walk a far distance every morning to queue before they can attend to nature’s call. However the Sunyani Municipal Chief Executive, Kwasi Oppong-Ababio, confirmed the story but told the GNA there was no document at the assembly covering the project and for that matter the assembly cannot continue working on the facility.
