A 60-year-old cocoa farmer, Kofi Takyi, is being sought by the Police in Agona Nyakrom for allegedly murdering his wife.
Takyi reportedly killed his 57-year-old wife, Ama Akomah, after she had threatened to leave him.
The Agona Nyakrom District Police Commander, Superintendent Joseph M. Ackah, made this known to newsmen on Friday.
He said Kofi Takyi, who hails from Agona Kwamang, threatened the wife that she will be killed if she dared attempt to divorce him.
On April 11, the suspect asked his wife to accompany him to his farm to harvest cocoa. While gathering the cocoa beans, the suspect attacked the deceased, inflicting multiple cutlass wounds on her till she fell unconscious, The District Police Commander said.
Thinking Ama had died, the suspect fled the scene whiles the deceased regained consciousness and struggled to reach the Nyakrom/Breman Asikuma road where some pedestrians rushed her to the Nyakrom Health Center.
Superintendent Ackah said the deceased who was in critical condition was transfered to the Agona Swedru Government Hospital where she died later.
The Police Commander appealed to the general public to help track down the suspect who is believed to be hiding either at Agona Kwamang, his home town or Asikuma–Odoben-Brakwa.
