A former President of the Ghana Bar Association (GBA), lawyer Sam Okudzeto has said the Chairman of the Electoral Commission, Dr. Kwadwo Afari Gyan should be cautioned to desist from chewing gum in the court room. The Chairman of the Electoral Commission, Dr. Kwadwo Afari-Gyan was captured on national television chewing gum inside the courtroom, when proceedings in the election petition at the Supreme Court were ongoing. An amused lawyer Okudzeto said on Wednesday on Adom FM's Dea Mehunu programme which was also live on Asempa FM that amidst giggling the "You are not going to find in a court of law, but there are a lot of etiquette that are observed in the bar and in the court". He said "it is not allowed. No lawyer, no judges are allowed to chew gum in the court, it is prohibited in the court room.” Lawyer Okudzeto stated that the demeanor of the EC boss is in need of advice by his lawyers. "Somebody needs to advice him that you don't chew gum in the court". His views were corroborated by Lawyers Moses Foh-Amoaning and Opoku Agyemang, both lecturers at the Ghana School of Law.
