Members of the Kumasi branch of the Polytechnic Teachers Association of Ghana (POTAG) are warning of a possible strike if negotiations on category two and other allowances do not start by next month. In a press release, the association noted that POTAG members’ condition of service expired seven years ago. After an emergency meeting by the members in Kumasi, a statement released noted that category two and three allowances do not attract any arrears. It therefore sees the delay by the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission to begin negotiations as a grand design to make members of POTAG worse off.Edmund Oppong Peprah, Chairman of POTAG-Kumasi, told Joy News "We cannot continue to live on the expired condition of service. This we are very serious about, we want to be invited on the table to negotiate on category two and three.“...we believe that we have restrained ourselves for a very long time and we have had enough at this point in time.”
