If the thought of death can be disturbing for most people, then being kept in suspense not knowing when one could be killed, lawfully, is in itself a nightmare.And for most prisoners on death roll, the agony can drive them insane.It is therefore not surprising that the local chapter of Amnesty International continue to pressure government to abolish the death penalty.Speaking at the back of the launch of Amnesty’s 2012 report on death penalty, country director Lawrence Amesu, said even though the death penalty has not been activated for more than a decade, it is only proper if it is expunged from the law books.
