A former minister in the erstwhile National Democratic Congress (NDC) government has denied allegations of plotting to unseat the party’s MPs in Tamale.
The former Minister of Food and Agriculture, Ibrahim Adam was accused by some NDC members in the Northern region of holding secret meetings in his house to plot the removal of sitting NDC MPs.
He has been accused of plotting the removal of three Members of Parliament; they are Haruna Iddrisu, Tamale South; Inusah Fuseini, Tamale Central; and Abukari Sumani MP for Tamale North.
The NDC members are saying that Mr. Adam is scheming to get the MPs to lose their seats in the 2008 elections.
In a swift response, Mr. Adam said the meetings in his house were meant to discuss strategies for an NDC victory in the 2008 elections.
Addressing students of the University of Development Studies (UDS) who belong to the NDC at the Nyankpala Campus of the university during a function at which one of the named MPs was present, he described the allegations against him as false.
He told the students that the meetings he has been holding in his house are meant to strategise to help the NDC wrestle power from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in 2008.
