Ghana’s Embassy in Dubai has indicated the country may have to improve its security checks and also reduce delays at the country’s international airport, if it wants to remain attractive to foreign investors.
The Embassy said undue delays at the Kotoka International Airport and other bottlenecks, are some of the major complaints by foreign investors at the Annual Investment Meeting, underway in Dubai.
Ghana’s Ambassador to Duabai, H.E Abdulai Yakubu, told Joy News his Consulate has received numerous complaints from foreign investors in United Arab Emirates (UAE), about the delays caused by the many security checks they have to go through before entering the country.
He said the investors also complained about the processes they have to go through at the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) before entering the country.
But H.E. Abdulai Yakubu said Ghana’s Consulate in Dubai has facilitated visa acquisition issues with the investors.
He explained that previously, the investors had to send their visa application to Saudi Arabia before they could acquire a visa to travel to Ghana.
He suggested a streamlining of security processes at the arrival halls of Ghana’s airport to boost foreign investor confidence to travel to the country for business.
