Ghana’s leading producer of bottled mineral water, Voltic (GH) Limited, has for the third year running extended a helping hand to the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), on the occasion of the World Press Freedom Day, observed every May 3rd.
The GJA received several cases of bottled natural mineral water from Voltic for its two day event to commemorate World Press Freedom Day.
The company, a subsidiary of SABMiller Plc., a globally acclaimed beverage manufacturer, has since 2010 been a worthy supporter of activities marking the World Press Freedom Day.
Corporate Affairs Manager of Voltic(GH) Ltd, Mr Cyrus deGraft- Johnson , in a short address noted that “our continued supports for the events, marking World Press Freedom Day underscores our firm's belief that a free and responsible media creates a viable environment for businesses like ours to thrive”.
“We are presenting these cases of our premium quality mineral water to the GJA as part of our corporate social investment activities. This is our widow’s mite to tell everyone connected to the practice of journalism in Ghana that we appreciate their struggles to remain focused on pertinent issues and developments that have far reaching and mostly positive implications for the business community.
"The press will always be the natural ally of the business community”, Mr deGraft- Johnson stressed.
He used the opportunity to congratulate the pioneers of press freedom in Ghana, “from the days of the independence struggle through the various military administrations till now, a lot of people have made and continue to make huge financial and material sacrifices that have seen the repeal of the criminal libel law leading to a vibrant growth in the media landscape in Ghana”.
Mr deGraft-Johnson commended members of the GJA for their peaceful conduct of the recent national and regional executive elections and urged incoming executives to “build on the solid foundations mounted by the outing going executives, led by Mr Ransford Tetteh. We are looking forward to further and deeper collaborations that would serve the mutual interests of Voltic and the GJA.”
The General Secretary of the GJA, Mr. Bright Blewu expressed sincere appreciation towards Voltic (GH) Limited for its contributions and readiness to support GJA to achieve great heights on a consistent basis.
