Retired players of Asante Kotoko trounced their Hearts of Oak counterparts 3-1 in a friendly match at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on Sunday.
The game, which was used to raise funds for charity and also contribute towards the welfare of the retired players of both sides, saw Kotoko registering all their goals in the first half with Isaac Boakye hitting a brace in the 20th and 42nd minutes, whilst Godwin Ablorddey also found target in the 27th minute.
Hearts, however pulled one back from Ayittey Dormon, who took on the Kotoko defence to slot home in the ninth minute.
The second half of the game was drab, compared to that of the first half, as most of the players were visibly tired; reducing incursions by both sides for the needed goals, but in spite of this, the “oldies” dazzled the crowd with their dribbling skills.
Other players who featured for Hearts included Emmanuel Armah "Senegal", Sam "Foyoo" Johnson, Jacob Nettey, Ishmael Addo, Amankwaah Mireku, Yaw Preko, Joe Addo and Ablade Kumah.
Kofi Abbrey, Prince Polley, Mohammed Odoom, Frimpong Manso, Odartey Lamptey, Isaac Kwakye, Isaac Boakye, Olli Rahman, Godwin Ablorddey, Gariba Ibrahim, Hamza Mohammed, among others, featured for Kotoko.
