Joy News sources within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) say the party’s national council has decided to suspend founding member Dr. Charles Wereko Brobby pending full disciplinary hearings.
Dr. Brobby has in recent weeks criticized the NPP for going to court to challenge the results of the 2012 elections.
This week he is reported to have criticized the performance of the party’s 2012 running mate Dr Mahamadu Bawumia as a witness in the election petition case.
JOY NEWS sources say the National Council reached the decision on Thursday after it considered the comments. The decision to suspend Dr. Brobby was taken in accordance with the party’s constitution which allows such disciplinary action to be taken against members whose conduct is deemed to have brought the NPP into disrepute.
Sources say the National Council’s decision will in the coming week formally write to Dr. Brobby inviting him for the disciplinary hearings. He has meanwhile refused to comment on the matter.
A leading member of the party Gabby Asare Okyere Darko speaking on Newsfile criticized Dr. Wereko Brobby’s recent comments.
