Despite leading to minerals-rich communities in the Ashanti Region, the appaling Dunkwa-Obuasi road remains a major headache to commuters.
The photos below tell the story of the frustrations commuters endure while travelling on the important road.
The photos, 14 in all, also explain why residents have demonstrated many times against the city authorities in a bid to get the road network fixed.
In September last year, Member of Parliament for Obuasi West, Kwaku Agyemang Kwarteng, promised that a $2 billion facility for the construction of priority projects by Chinese firm Sinohydro Corporation would be a welcoming intervention in improving road networks in the area.
Touching on the Dunkwa-Obuasi road, Mr Kwarteng said, “the 40 km road remains a top priority of the Government and I am optimistic that it would be constructed even before election 2020.”
The bad nature of the road network has for many years remained topical.
Watch photos of the deplorable road situation below.
